I get asked all of the time if we have memberships. Why don’t we have memberships? Will we be offering memberships?
All. Of. The. Time.
Today our world is full of memberships. Wanna watch a movie? Get a membership to Netflix. Netflix doesn’t have that movie get a membership to Amazon Prime. Prime not showing the favorite show you grew up with in the 1970’s? Get a membership with Hulu. (maybe that last one is just me—I LIKE Gilligan’s Island!) Then you can sit down after coming home from your gym membership and watch all of these streaming memberships eating a monthly membership delivered dinner, wearing leggings that came from your friendly monthly leggings club membership, sipping wine from your wine of the month club membership.
Want a massage? MEMBERSHIP
Lashes? MEMBERSHIP
Waxing? MEMBERSHIP
Ugh. I am sick of them. Frankly, I have never liked them and never saw them as part of my marketing plan for Beach Ready. I never understood the value to the customer because the business is basically saying, “Here, spend money with me every month to come in and spend more money even though it appears to be less.” Here’s what I think: I think that sometimes you want to do something and sometimes you don’t. And I think that if today or this week or this month you don’t want to do it then you shouldn’t be paying for it. I think that memberships are a way to get money out of people because people forget to use the service. I think it’s a way to offer you a ‘deal’ when the deal is for the company because they are banking that you don’t use their membership. It’s like being The House in Vegas—they always win. Perhaps this is all very short-sided and not business minded of me, but in the long run I’m extremely people minded and that has worked well for me.
So, in case you’re still wondering. . .we do not have memberships at Beach Ready Lakeland or Brandon. But guess what we do have? We have a loyalty program. We give you points. For every dollar you spend on services you get a point. For every dollar you spend on products you get two points. For every person you refer you get 50 points. Yep, you read that right. Our program is called the Treatcard program and it works like this: when you spend/earn 500 points you get a $25 gift card.
TREAT YO SELF!
(can I get an amen from my Parks and Rec fans?!)
This accomplishes a few things:
- It allows us to give back to you and express our gratitude that you chose us out of the other options out there.
- It allows you to Treat Yo Self when you least expect it and know that, to us, you are valued.
- It allows all this appreciation and good will and love and hearts and flowers to flow effortlessly.
You support us, we appreciate your loyalty. Dontcha just love the symbiosis of the relationship? I mean, we’re like oxpecker and the elephant; each benefitting the other and no one is paying a membership.
Smiles,
Beach Ready
