So, it’s been a while since I’ve done anything on here, but I’m vowing to get better. We’re not perfect but we try (see the theme here?). I’m pretty sure I could start every blog post with that line. What is that famous quote? The road to hell is paved with good intentions. Yep, yep, I can relate. I’m sure all small business owners can say this as well.
We opened a new Beach Ready Waxing in Lakeland, Florida which is just as beautiful as our location in Brandon, Florida and we do all of the same services: Brazilian waxing, bikini waxing, eyebrow waxing. . .you know all of the stuff. From the time I signed the lease which was May 20, 2019 to the day we had a grand opening, July 17, 2019, everything left my brain. I forgot the names of people I had loved my entire life, clients told me major health concerns and I forgot them, I forgot to pay my waxing technicians one week. It was a classic example of trying to put 10lbs in a 5lb bucket.
I didn’t do it very well because I focused on one thing and that was getting Beach Ready Lakeland up and running. That was it. Ask those that are in my space every day. They will tell you I had blank stares for long periods of time when they asked me a question or I would answer and in the middle of a sentence trail off not even remembering what I was saying. I had a one track mind and when it stopped I fell asleep. I could have traveled for months using only the bags under my eyes to pack.
I tell you all of this to say: sometimes, things fall through the cracks. If you’ve been in here the last few months you have seen several new faces. I love them all. I have had the most wonderful people come out of the woodwork to work with us. I’ve trained them to the best of my ability and then their natural abilities took over. BUT sometimes we miss things. We’re not perfect but we try. Sometimes hairs get left behind that should have been seen; sometimes we forget lavender oil; sometimes we forget your name.
BUT WE ALWAYS DO OUR BEST. We’re not perfect but we try. We want you to have the best, kindest, friendliest, cleanest wax ever. We want your eyebrows shaped FABULOUSLY. We want your lady parts hairless. We want your back to be smooth as glass. If, at some point, you find that we have not lived up to these expectations I want you to tell me. I can’t be better and I can’t make us better if I don’t know.
I had a client in recently that was not happy with her service. I got her off to the side and asked if she was happy and she swore up and down that she was. I didn’t find out until two weeks later when her buddy squealed on her that she was unhappy. I was bothered that we were less than perfect, but I was more bothered that she wouldn’t tell me even when I asked. I really do want to know. I’ve been doing this for upwards of 15 years and even I miss things from time to time. I need to know where we can improve and where I can help them be the best. I want each of them to be the best.
I want to run the best waxing joint in Florida, especially Brandon and Lakeland. I already have the best clientele and I want to keep you and get more. You help us be better and I couldn’t be more grateful. So, if you see something (hair) say something (to me) and I’ll make it right. Promise.
